29 shirdi pilgrims killed in bus tragedy near Naldurg in Osmanabad District

Osmanabad: In a worst ever road tragedy in Maharashtra, 29 pilgrims were killed and about 16 injured when a private tourist bus fell off a bridge near Naldurg around 40 km from Osmanabad, on the Hyderabad-Solapur highway around 2.30 am. A one-year-old boy miraculously escaped unhurt.

All the injured were shifted to civil hospitals in Osmanabad and Solapur. Two help-lines have been setup at Osmanabad for enquiries: 02472 222900, 02472 222700.

The bus (No KA-01D-245) owned by Kaveshwari Travels had left Hyderabad Friday night for popular pilgrim centre Shirdi in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district. It was carrying about 50 piligrims from Andhra Pradesh. According to sources, around 14-16 TCS employees were traveling in the bus.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Osmanabad District Collector has ordered Magisterial inquiry into the incident.

Netaji  R/o Hafsiguda; Prafula Suresh B  R/o Madhapur, Hyderabad; Deepti / Dipika Kishtayya (30) R/o Macharalla Dist.Guntur; Goutam Krishnalal Bhandari R/o Madhapur Hyderabad; Vikram N. Sudarshan R/o Kukatpalli; Divya Jagannath Pinda (23) R/o Hyderabad; Dr.P.Sushil Kumar Kunda (34) R/o Sikandarabad; Uma Maheshwari S.Sukraju Sursheeti (21) R/o Vishakhapattanam; Saisneha P Ramkrishna Reddy (24) R/0 Rajpalam; M.Suresh P. Sina Naidu (29) R/o Hyderabad; Kishorkumar Bangaru Raju Manimesuru (30) R/o Arthmuru; K.Ramarao Vynkatadi (5) R/o Aadusmalli; K. Vynaketeshrao R/o Hyderabad; K. Anita D/o Vynaketeshrao R/o Hyderabad; Vyankateshulu D/o Vynkayya (55) R/o Bodhveru; Adiamma Vyankatesh Varulu (50) R/o Bedalveru, AP; P. Deepti Jagannath Pinda (23) R/o Hyderabad;M. Kishtayya s/o Ramayya (50) R/o Bedalveru, AP. Other 9 deceased are yet to be identified.

27 dead bodies have been shifted to Hyderabad after post-mortem. Two persons died during treatment at Civil Hospital in Solapur.

Osmanabad District Collector Dr. Pravin Gedam, Superintendent of Police Dattatraya Karale, Dy.S.P. Ravindrasingh Pardeshi, Spl. IGP Aurangabad Range Sandip Bishnoi, Guardian Minister of Osmanabad District Madhukarrao Chavan visited the accident spot on Saturday.

Expressing shock over the mishap, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officials to provide all help to the victims and their families.
