New Delhi: India celebrated its 63rd Republic Day (62nd Anniversary) Thursday with the main ceremonial parade in capital showcasing its military and air power, and its rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Thailand’s first woman Prime Minister Yinluck Shinawatra was the guest of honor.
The President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil conferred the Ashoka Chakra on Lieutenant Navdeep Singh (Posthumous) of the Army Ordnance Corps / 15th Battalion, The Maratha Light Infantry, at the beginning of the Republic day celebrations. The Award was received by his father Subedar Major, Honorary Lieutenant (Retd.) Joginder Singh.
