Padma Vibhushan to Bhupen Hazarika and Mario Miranda

Mumbai: Legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika and noted cartoonist Mario Miranda have been posthumously chosen for Padma Vibhushan, country’s second highest civilian honour. Cine veterans Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Mira Nair are among this year’s Padma Bhushan awardees.

President has approved 109 awards comprising 5 Padma Vibhushans, 27 Padma Bhushan and 77 Padma Shri Awards.

Vetern orthopedist from Pune Dr. K H Sancheti is also among the recipients of the Padma Vibhushan.

Vipassyana Guru Satyanarayan Goenka, Music director Vanraj Bhatia, singer Anup Jalota, UstadShahid Parvez Khan, Lavani artist Yamunabai Waikar, Marathi playwright Satish Alekar, industrialists Arun Firodia and Swati Piramal, financial expert Y H Malegam, and Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman are the other leading awardees from Mumbai and Maharashtra.
